Understanding RIC structure

Hello,

I try to unterstand the logic behind the general RIC structure. I already read your manuals regarding that topic, but still many things remain unclear.

Let me give you an example. If I open the "All Quotes" page of the company SAP, I see many different RICs. All these RICs have roughly the same structure :

  1. RIC root
  2. Delemiter (In this case always ".")
  3. Exchange identifier

I thought that since we talk about the same company, the RIC root has to be same for all positions. However, that is not the case (compare for example "SAPG.DE", "SAP.QTX" and "SAPd.CHI"). Does that really imply that all RIC roots are different, i.e. "SAPG", "SAP" and "SAPd"? If yes, why is that the case? If no, what are the meanings of the letters "G" and "d"? Is there a documentation of that?

Thank you in advance for your help!
