The RFA API does not impose any limits - it is purely a means of consuming data from a server.
Your organisation may have some some limits based on its data usage licences etc - this is something you would have to discuss with your Market data team / DACS admin team.
In addition to this your Market data team may also configure an Item Limit per mount - i.e. per connection - these are typically set to thousands or hundreds of thousands of items. Please check with your Market Data team to confirm the limit
One final point - if you are developing a new application in RFA Java or RFA C++, then I would recommend you explore the Elektron Message API (which is part of Elektron SDK). EMA is much easier to learn and implement as well as being our newer strategic API with longer term support.
