Eikon library for Python on Windows 10

Is there any known limitation regarding installing the Eikon Python library using the pip command on a Windows 10 based PC? A team member is having trouble installing the "eikon" library with pip.

Turns out that the installation method of the Anaconda Python environment to "All Users" has an impact on whether pip installation succeeds or not. If installing to "This User" on Windows, eikon library installs correctly, but if you installed Anaconda for "All users", pip installation returns error.

Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for answering and sharing your knowledge here. I am also having some issue in installing Eikon. This one will work out for me. Go2top.

Hi,

Regarding the Eikon Python library, there isn't limitation on Windows 10.
Could you detail the pip installation error ?
It could be caused by a dependency or the environment.

Hi @pierre.faurel

Thanks for the feedback, glad to know there are no limitations with regards to OS. As I mentioned, the Anaconda installation seems to have been the cause. As it was on another person's PC, I wasn't able to confirm the exact error, but apparently reinstalling Anaconda to the specific user, ie. not all users, the Eikon Python library installed without any issues.

If PIP is not in your environment variables, the PIP command is not recognized in the command line (CMD). There are many questions about it on StackOverflow. You can also navigate with CMD to the 'Scripts' folder your Python installation folder and try to run 'pip' from there. Nevertheless, you most likely will need to use PIP more often, so a reinstall (or manual adding of Python to System Environment Variables) is preferred...

Thanks @Joris.Hoendervangers

It seems like pip was working okay for other popular packages so it seemed strange that only the eikon package would return errors. Nevertheless, thanks for the link to the StackOverflow page. That will come in handy.

It is really very much interesting to get with the libraries for the Python Language, there are several types of support are provided by Linksys tech support and for Windows 10, you have to add an extension with it.
