Problem with using Python API ek -- 'daemon is disconnected'

I am trying to download Reuters data into Jupyter notebook. I am importing eikon as ek, setting my ID, and then running the following lines of code:

--

symbols = ['AAPL.O', 'MSFT.O', 'GOOG.O']

data = ek.get_timeseries(symbols[0],start_date='2016-01-01',end_date='2016-10-31',interval='daily',fields=['*'])

--

I am then getting the following error. Does anyone know how to solve this?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
EikonError Traceback (most recent call last)

Are you running Eikon API Proxy?
If you haven't already done so, follow the Quick Start Guide to get started with Eikon Web & Scripting APIs.

Hi Alex -- I am a colleague of @ntopjian. A different Eikon user at our firm installed the API Proxy and is having trouble getting an AppID. Clicking on the "Get an AppID" link does not display the dialog. Our IT dept says that our corporate firewall is not blocking the request.

Check out this previous discussion on this forum:

You can try using Fiddler to figure out what happens when you click Get an AppID.
As an immediate workaround you can use any string in set_app_id method. At the moment we do not check the validity of the app ID, although we're very likely to implement it in near future.
