The RIC, a Thomson Reuters quote identifier, is used in news to tag companies to news. When a company's RIC changes, the RIC tagged to news often changes as well. Clients are advised to keep up with RIC changes in the traded instruments. Alternatively, Thomson Reuters is increasingly adding the PermID, a company identifier to the feed. News Analytics and News Sentiment Indices are already using this as "the" company identifier, and Real-time News is partially migrated. See the Open PermID API on the Developer Portal for more information.
